Episode 61: Moses Grows Some (Horns)
Join Tim and Gini for “Episode 61: Moses Grows Some (Horns),” and another awkward potential translation of Hebrew. Last week it was the possibility that Joseph’s “Coat of Many Colors” might really have been the less-likely-to-inspire-jealousy, “Coat with Long Sleeves.” This week the translation question is this: When Moses came down from the mountain after seeing God, was his face “shining”? Or had did his face “have horns”? Michelangelo seems to have thought it was the latter, and thus, we have the devilish Moses. Spoiler alert for those of you who look it up, Moses was shining. That “horns” thing was SO 16th century.
And speaking of shining, Jesus lightens up a little this week with dazzling white robes and a face that, well, shines. Hear us dig in to this story and notice details that show us again that these stories are DEEP. They’re not just about old dead people, they speak to us today. Have a listen, and let us know what you think!
As always, the readings may be found at lectionarypage.net or this week.
