Episode 107: Mary, Did You Know?
It’s the Sunday before Christmas Eve – Advent 4 – oh wait, it’s also Christmas Eve! This is the year where Mary gets pregnant and has the baby all in the same day! But before we talk about Christmas itself, Gini and the Rev. Becky Zartman (Tim is traveling this week) talk about Mary and the Magnificat and having babies. It’s a pretty cool conversation, and this episode comes with BONUS features: ART and MUSIC! Here is a link to the beautiful artwork that Becky showed Gini by screen-sharing on Zoom (which actually took them forever to do, notwithstanding the fact that we’ve now been Zooming and screen sharing for years). It’s called “Mary Consoles Eve” by Sr. Grace Remington, OCSO. And here is a link to the classic King’s College Choir, Cambridge version of “Adam Lay Ybounden” (and no, I have no idea why it couldn’t just be “bounden”). And just for fun, here is “Hannah’s Song,” that Becky mentioned as being the prophetic song for which the Magnificat is something of a reprise.
Tim and Gini will be back to talk about Christmas – but until then, enjoy the remaining days of Advent and Merry Christmas!
Here are the readings for this Sunday (morning), which could also have entitled, “There’s Something About Mary!”
